How to Get Started with Loaner Car Net
All you have to have is a computer that is connected to the Internet and a printer. The Internet connection needs to be a high-speed permanent connection. The printer needs to be a fairly good ink jet printer or a laser printer in order to get reasonable speed from the process. In many cases, the printer needs to be able to print both sides of the page (duplex printing). You may want to acquire a duplexing printer that is dedicated to the task of printing your loaner or rental contracts.
The computer needs web browser software (all computers have that).
Microsoft Internet Explorer is the suggested browser. The Adobe Acrobat
Reader or some other compatible PDF reader must also be installed.
This is a free utility that allows contracts
and reports to be printed easily.
Loaner Car Net can be run on as many computers in your dealership as is needed. If you wish all Service Advisors to be able to issue loaner cars, that is possible.
Each dealership's loaner or rental contract is customized for the dealership. Loaner Car Net has some basic contract formats which can be modified to suit specific needs. Many manufacturers have specific contracts that are required for insurance purposes. Loaner Car Net has a relationship with PDP Group, Inc. to provide these specific contracts. If necessary, a contract format will be created from scratch. Many times, it is required that a second page of a contract with terms and conditions be printed on the reverse side of the page. In this case, a "duplexing" printer must be used.
Please Note: Even though the Loaner Car Net system is very reliable and you won't experience much, if any down time, you need to maintain a method to manually issue loaner cars if necessary. Even with web based software, there are still occasions when the Internet is sluggish or even non responsive in certain geographies. And, the system is still dependent on your local internet connection as well as your local computer(s).
What Does it Cost?
Loaner Car Net is a subscription service. The cost is $65.00 per month or $715.00 per year for the entire dealership. There is no additional fee for multiple users. The yearly rate amounts to one month free. There are no additional costs other than providing the on-site computers as described above and printer supplies. The loaner or rental contract prints on blank paper. In some cases, you must have pages with your usual terms and conditions printed on the back of the sheet. These pre-printed sheets must then be loaded into the printer when printing a contract. You can either have these sheets printed at a local print shop or use a copier in the dealership. The wording of the terms and conditions, of course, is the responsibility of the dealership and is not part or provided by the Loaner Car Net software.
